Using the Survey of Consumer Finances, I pulled out the mean wealth of the top one percent and bottom ninety-nine percent between 2007 and 2016. As you can see in the table below, the mean wealth of the top one percent rose by $4.9 million over this period while the mean wealth of the bottom ninety-nine percent declined by $4,500. All of these figures are presented in 2016 dollars.
