The People’s Policy Project is proud to announce its first ever endorsement. The endorsement is for Ihssane Leckey who is running for Congress in the fourth district of Massachusetts. Leckey is running in the primary against the conservative Joe Kennedy III for the 2020 election and has pledged to reject all corporate PAC money, both in her campaign and in office.
Leckey is running on a progressive platform that includes support for Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and social housing. If we are going to win the change we need in this country, 3P believes we will need to elect more people like Leckey and less people like Kennedy.
The primary reason for our endorsement of Leckey is that she is the first candidate who has endorsed our Family Fun Pack platform. The Family Fun Pack is a comprehensive set of benefits for families with children that includes a baby bundle, parental leave, free child care, free pre-k, free school lunch, and a monthly cash benefit for every child. Leckey has included these programs under her “Universal Family Care” plank.
In addition to endorsing Leckey, we are asking all of our supporters to please make a donation to her campaign. In addition to helping Leckey win the race, these donations will send a message to potential progressive challengers across the country that candidates running on these ideas can count on getting financial support from those who care about social and economic justice.
